Daiwa 50 Saltiga two speed lever drag reels

Submited By lawman lawman is offline
Looking at adding two offshore reels for tuna/shark for northeast waters. I have been looking at this model. Concern, this model does not have enough line capacity for 80 lb. line. Specs. 50lb-220 yards=mono. 50lb-630lb=braid. I could use 50lb. but I am new to the offshore game. Will 50lb. line be sufficient for trolling tuna, fishing for shark. Once again, northeast waters?

At ICSAST show last year there was the beginning of a Saltiga 2 speed reel in an acrylic case. I have asked about it since and no one seems aware of such a thing.

It was a lever drag as well. I welcome such a product but fear the cost will make it prohibitive.

I think you misunderstood my suggestion, I did not mean th STTLD502spd

I was suggesting the Saltist STTLD30T2spd

$10 more, easily 500yds 100# spectra + topshot

I wouldn't sweat the Sharks! LOL Unless you are going to target Great Whites, that reel would be fine for Shark fishing up here..... It's the Tuna that'll trash your gear!
