apparently someone decided to try and reinvent the stella, "super custom one of a kind" has a new power handle, and bigger spool, "pulls 70lbs of drag" i'd like to see a stella with a 70lb drag capacity

SHIMANO STELLA 20000 BIG GAME REEL SUPER CUSTOM - eBay (item 190198284231 end time Feb-17-08 05:23:55 PST)

apparently the ball bearing also cost $600US

Gman,
You can always pull your current spinners out and re-spool them and change out the knobs!!!!. That will take the pressure off you pulling the trigger to buy a new one. That's what I am doing right now to keep from ordering since my fishing trip this weekend was canceled due to mother nature.
(See pictures below.)

The weight of the new 10K is very nice for those who like lightweight strong spinning reels. It's built on the 8K frame to save weight. The new 10K holds 295 yards of PE6 and weights 22.04 ounces. The new 20K holds 547 yards of PE6 and weights 29.8 ounces.

They are going to be expensive. The 10K will go for $1029 in the states. The 20K will be $1129. I'm not sure if you get the larger handle with the new ones as a second option. Hopefully they will include it with the new ones. The large handle on the current 20K's are very nice. I can use it without replacing. I am going to try to put my new knobs on my current 20Ks in the morning since I feel the need to play with tackle. I can't use the little ones on that movie.

FYI...... 1 meter = 1.094 yard
1 gram = .035274 ounces

just not the same Mr Bill, just not the same. Having the lightweight 10000 to cast to bluefin this season would be great ha ha this statement is a complete 360 (no pun intended) from my comment last week that I just couldn't justify it

I have never fished off the east coast casting to bluefins. Maybe a few of the east coast guys could answer a couple of questions for me.

What size are these bluefins you will be catching with the 10K?

Do bluefins fight similar to yellowfins when they have a plug in their mouth?
In other words, they give up a lot easier than when hooked with a chunk.

Can you catch them on PE6 line?
PE8 is 30% larger than PE6. Therefore you could only put 200 yards of PE8 on the new 10K.

When does the bluefin season start and end?

Do you have to travel long distances in the water to find the bluefins?

Thanks in advance for you answers.

I have a question,
MrBill, do you find some advantage to using PE line on the spinning reels you would cast poppers with? I can understand using it on a jigging reel for depth.
