I was referring to braided line in general for the capacity of the spinning reels. PE6 = 60#, PE8 = 80#. (approximately) I do not use depth marked colored line on reels for casting poppers. It's to expensive. |

1. They range from about 75 lbs + but larger versions swim together. Same area giants are caught but most are in the 50-60" range 2. They definately don't fight as hard as when hooked on chunk 3. I personally use 65lb braid such as tuffline or sufix. 4. Season starts mid june and ends end of October 5. Its run and gun, close to shore. See birds, speed up cast to school, they spook and you repeat process all day so you don't have to travel far unless you tossing poppers to pushing fish offshore. |

based on what i saw you could easily get away with a 8000 but because of the mix of fish (smaller with larger) & line capacity you can be outgunned very quickly. I had a giant bluefin launch right behind a dragger on my shibuki on my last trip. The captain said it was easily over 300. They all seem to swim together in pods so seeing 200 lb tuna pushing water is not uncommon at all. Thats why i would only use the 10,000 with the larger spool if needed
