Id only correct rick slightly...

its not a freezer thats going there, its another 5000 gals of fuel Mexico here we come....

but there is slated to be a walk in freezer and cooler on the main level...

(no owner "suite" was mentioned when I asked)

Yeah, for $5K $6K you could do a 15 and pay a good tip. But, it's the Gulf we'd all like to see more of.

I think that the Big E will be pretty much be as we know it....except for the price increase. If six spots are cut out of the current model....that in and of itself results in an approximately $114 increase per person to do the trip. If they keep things as they are and it costs $764 to go on a 52 hr. tuna trip....that's not too bad.

If the price increase includes costs to improve the vessel, then....we may see huge increases in the trip price that may keep some or most of us out. I'm sure that the new owner is calculating on keeping us on board.

But if they also run dive trips, they get to spread the cost of upgrades to a larger pool of customers.

That shouldn't be a problem if you use dollar bills rolled up, instead of firewood.

I would expect after spending another one million on retrofitting, the fee will go up considerably. Fuel is also a new factor. Diesel is running .50 cents a gallon higher than this time last year. I believe that boat already holds 6700 gallons. If they add another 5000 gallon tank, thats around 14,000gallons. About 35K to fill up at wholesale levels. If you take 35 customers out and burn all the fuel, that's a grand per person. Add in the insurance, employees, wear and tear, etc. you have an expensive trip to cover.

I would expect to see that 72 hour trip to be about 13 to 17 hundred with food. He has to get that much or lose money. Nobody likes to lose money. If they can't make it, the boat goes back on the market for an even lower price.

You sure sounds like the new owner of BigE . Is BigE your new ride?
1700 bucks for 72hrs trip is out of my range. I might consider if it's 1300 bucks.

I'm with Gunsmoke, minimum cost for the 72-hr will be $1,000, and most likely closer to $1,200 or $1,300. But I could do that three times a year and be happy!
