I am on standby for the 60 that leaves on the 12th. Right now I'm in Dallas, just had a new granddaughter born today. We are making a tour of the mountains in Colo. and New Mexico and will be home to Port A on the 11th

I was on one 80 hr trip with them last year and we got into a topwater bite near one of the production rigs about 120 miles out. Obviously on a new moon. Yellowfin on spinning tackle is a hell of alot of fun as you probably know. Most where in the 50 lb range but a couple were up to 100. We saw some monsters clear the surface of the water chasing flying fish.

I was on their web site last night and saw a pic of a 183 pounder caught last Sept. That is a healthy fish even by pacific standards!

I am heading out with them again next month. I am more excited about that than I was my Carribean billfishing trip I took last month!

I am going on the 48 hr on the last week of July. Kind of sucks for me cause my last 3 trips have been 80s and I loved it. I have to go on the 48 because my company shuts down that week so I just picked the longest trip that week. My first 2 trips with these guys were 40 hrs about 5 years ago. We caught a crap load of blackfin behind shrimp boats on those, but they were winter trips. I really have no idea what to expect on such a short trip in July. I trust that Ken will make it fun. I wouldnt mind some kingfish on topwaters. I dont have my hopes up for tuna though especially after finding out the moon phase for those days.

I went out on a 40 last august, we caught all the snapper we could stand , some BIG sows, and we got on the AJ niceeeee. Its going to be hard after my payday on june 8 not to go on a pre 60hr trip.

I was on that trip and actually James' YFT wieghed 189 and change. I saw the weight at the docks. Sure hope they didn't short him 6 pounds...

There were several stories posted on 2cool and TFF about that unusual 12 hr trip where we hooked about a dozen big Yellowfins from beneath a shrimp boat about 45 miles offshore.

189 lbs after being bled out and sitting in a cooler for a day or so? If that was the weight at the dock the that was a >200 lb fish when it came out of the water. Easily.
