The Dolphin is an 80 foot vessels that accommodates up to 50 persons for 5 to 72 hour fishing trips. The Dolphin also has sleeping quarters and showers available only on the longer trips for the tired fisherman. Most of the time you are catching so many fish you can't sleep.Children 6 and under not fishing can go with there parents free. Other members of a party who want to site see and watch the fishing can go for half price.

I'm booked on the 40 hr trip on the Dolphin at the end of the month.
What is the standard operating procedure for this type of trip? I get first choice of bunk and fishing spot, where should I pick a spot and is one bunk better than the other? Do they troll between spots on this boat? Thanks |

WilliamH,
You're the man for going out on the Dolphin. Slow boat to China, but they do catch fish. Full throttle is trolling speed on the Dolphin. If fact, 8 knots is a little slow. I like 9 knots for trolling lures. By the way, what do they get for the 40 hour trip? Let us know how you did on the trip after you return. |

There will be some bunks in the galley, but I'd suggest the other bunks if you're a light sleeper.
The fishing spot depends on what you like to do. I like to throw topwater so I prefer the bow, but the stern is highly favored on The Dolphin. Definitely set up a trolling rig and bring a safety line rather than use the pole holders. You may want to work with 3 others to coordinate your spread. However, I've never seen anything hook up on the ride out. Good luck and post a report w/pics when you return! |

I always return Sunday evening. That's to bad you come back on Monday. Otherwise I'd get a kick out seeing your faces when you get off the boat.
Is the boat slow? If I had a pair of Jesus shoes, I could beat you guys to the rocks or where ever you are going. I can't wait for your report. |

I have fished all over the world and some of my most memorable trips have been with these guys. It is a great way to get into bluewater for a long trip for a great price. I have been on trips with them from 40 to 80 hours and my favorite trips have been with Capt Ken on the 80 hour trip on new moons. He will put you on some fish. I have caught so many tuna with him that my arms have gotten so sore that I just had to go to bed during the bite! I cannot speak about Capt Travis 'cause he was a deck hand last time that I fished with him.
