Williams Boat Service, LLC, at Pier 19 in Galveston announces that the new boat has arrived. Third generation owner, Capt. Johnny Williams has named the boat in honor and memory of his dad, Capt. John H. Williams.

The Capt. John is a 75 foot long by 27 foot wide all aluminum catamaran. It is Galveston's fastest and most modern party boat. Its cruising speed is around 22 knots (25 mph) when fully loaded. The extended operating range available on day trips, with its great speed, will enable the Capt. John to fish additional areas that are not presently accessible. Day trips will take up to 83 fishermen offshore, while extended length trips of 36 hours to 60 hours will be able to accommodate up to 40. Bunks for the 40 fishermen make these overnight trips a comfortable reality.

The Capt. John was built by GEO Shipyard in New Iberia, Louisiana, and was designed by Schuller & Allan, Inc., Houston, using state of the art catamaran hull design technology to ensure comfort and safety. Two seven hundred horsepower turbo-diesel engines by Lugger are the power plants driving the Capt. John. Two 33 kilowatt Northern Lights generators supply the electrical power. For night fishing, the Capt. John has numerous mid-level outside lights, not to light the decks - the standard deck lights take care of that, but to attract baitfish into the water around the boat, then they will attract the tuna, etc. The cabin has dual air conditioners, insuring a comfortable atmosphere even on the hottest days. The upper deck, with its bench seating, provides an area for resting and sightseeing. A full service, dual microwave snack bar is located inside the cabin. A full electronics package for your safety and to aid the Captain to locate the fishing spots includes two radars, two bottom sonar machines, three radios, global positioning system and a weather fax for the latest weather updates, all supplied by Dorsey Electronics in South Houston. These items, along with the required structural changes, enables the Capt. John to be Coast Guard rated for a maximum range of 200 nautical miles offshore. Each fishing spot also has its own rod holder, and convenient bait trays are around the inside perimeter of the lower rail. Fish cooler boxes, built into the outside bench seating, assist in keeping your catch fresh.

The Capt. John is a beautiful, efficient fishing machine we are all going to enjoy for many years.

Make your reservations on the Capt. John today for an offshore fishing experience you will never forget.

No Elliot and Lari as well as several other Owners are dead opposed to MPA's....I have a relationship with them as we were working to stop the 2 fish rule by NMFS. California has been dealing with these far left enviro's and their attempts to turn the ocean into one big marine preserve.

Well, all I can say is that I've been fishing with Johnny for many years now and he is a stand up guy. I'm sure that if he's supporting MPA's then it's for a good reason. Johny Williams has always run a clean operation. No loads of lesser amberjacks coming in on his boats ;-) If you fish a lot on other boats you'll know what I'm talking about.

I agree as to Mr. Williams integrity, however I do feel that he is being led astray by someone that the majority of fishermen see as the enemy. If the far left enviros get their way we will all be fishing in our bath tubs, just ask the boys in California. Many people have worked hard to protect fishermens rights and one of our own siding with the enviro's is a hard fact to swallow. Most recreational fishermen that have knowledge of these people's agenda would not have any good reason to support them...in fact there are many reasons to oppose them with MPA's/No Fishing Zones being just one. Simple fact is that once they get the ball rolling it will be hard to stop them...they lie and deceive to get what they want!!

Is Capt. Tony going to let overhand casting of popper's or is it all underhand.
I can see overhand on the bow & sidearm on the port side. Also are they makeing arangements for a quick shower.50hrs with out a bath does'nt smell
to good. Capt. Tony is a great guy and I'm sure he will adjust to a different
fishing style.

John that is not likely. The reasoning for no overhand casting is this. A passenger had a hook penetrate his skull due to this style of fishing. Now I'm not saying he won't, but it is unlikely.

Where are the rods and other tackle stored during the trip? Is braid allowed on this boat? Some boats don't allow since it cuts mono.

no overhand casting= no boatride for me... They need to allow overhand casting with RULES. you get caught breaking the rules, you dont do it.. twice, and you dont fish... continue and you are banned from the boats for life.

Rules-- you make it known to ALL around you are "going out", and you MUST look behind you before loading up the rod to sling the popper.

ethics

I am Looking forward to fishing the Capt. John. One has only to listen to stories of experienced capt.s about miles of bait schools parting in front of the boat as they cleared the jettys or amberjacks so thick on snapper spot 15 mi. out they couldn't get past them! This was only 25 yr.s ago!

Last trip on the big e 92 yfts in the box. Anglers are learning
quick about the right gear and how to catch them. Soon you will see this boat limiting out and limits being enforced.

Just an observation from the middle of the road.

The Capt.John was my first 36hr.and I had a great time.1st.bft.aj and big kings. After that I went on the BigE and caught my 1st.yft on topwater. It's got to be one of the biggest rushes of my life.I'm sure that when Capt.Tony see's the fish busting on the surface he'll let the popper's come out.I've been lucky enough to have been on the #2 99yft@#3 96yft trip's on the BigE.I sure would like to be on the 1st.Capt.John trip with a full limit
