I went on a 24 hr La Pesca trip with some friends at the snapper kick off a few years ago. Didn't mind the boat ride, but the bunk room reeked of diesel bad. Caught an AJ and some snappers (not limits), so had a good time. Talked to a guy that went out with them recently....spoke of a diesel smell in the bunk room. Go figure! LOL
Personally, I'd wait 'till snapper season opens to go snapper fishing. I was jigging the other day in 150' of water and released a dozen big snappers, half over 20". Bummer.

Capt Ken is a very good captain who will put you on fish given the limitations
that boat has.I dont even go below deck -just crash on the bench seats. One
thing to consider is the fuel surcharge . It can easily be over 100.00 on the 24 - 60 hr trips. On the Dolphin the sleeping accomidations are better but its even slower. Need at least a 60hr trip to have a shot at YFT.

It's a relatively short trip; and, it's slower than some others; but, there can be compensating advantages: It's more time for your $. You may be able to do more trolling than on a faster boat; and, your captains may be willing to fish more creatively if you show some interest. Part of the experience is the eqpt, part is what your capt and crew help you to make of the trip.
