To all those going on this trip, consider the fact that some of us have run into one particular individual who uses extremely light tackle to take on yellowfin on the Big E--it has happened more than once and, as I have stated elsewhere, on our September, 2007 52-hour trip, he took one drift well over an hour--probably to the 1 1/2 hour mark--ruining the drift for everyone else. I have heard he is a friend of the Captain, but I have no evidence of that and would not claim it to be true.
Nonetheless, that kind of thing ruins the trip for the majority of fishermen on board. When I booked two of our party's slots, I mentioned it to one of the lady's--I think the one who is the Captain's wife. She acknowledged it was a problem. My point is this: It would not hurt for some of the rest of us to call them and mention that some reasonable limit needs to be placed on the type of tackle used--especially for YFT, and the degree to which the Captain will allow one man to fight an average fish before cutting him off--literally. Please think about doing this. Russ

I agree with the fact that too light tackle can spoil things for others but I think you might have a problem getting Frank or anyone else to put strict limitations on what you can take/use.

I have no doubt, awesom that I alone would have little effect. However, if 15 or 20 paying customers voiced the same expectations for the thousand plus dollars we will each be putting on the table, I suspect Frank might listen--or failing that, the boat's owner and Frank's boss. I guess I am an old fart, but I remember when the customer was king and majority ruled.
I'm just sayin... Russ
