Texas Party Boats
Hey everyone. Some guys I know are looking to do an offshore trip (just a day trip, not after tuna or other large pelagics) and are trying to find some boats. Some guys are pretty close to SPI, and were wondering if there were any headboats (or possibly charters) going out of there. The boats I know of are:
Galveston Cpt John New Buc/Cavalier Freeport Big E Port A Dolphin Docks DSH I'm sure there are some that I'm missing. Surely there have to be more boats going out of Texas. Thanks! |

SPI head boats ...
Working out of SPI are ....
Osprey Fishing Trips of South Padre Island, TX And another one called Captain Murphy who may have ceased operation since their web site isn't working. I'm not recommending either of them since I have never tried either of them and have read a lot of bad press on different sites about them. ![]() |

thanks man - looks like a tourist boat, but would be fine for an easy 8 hour trip. i think most of these guys are going to bring wives/kids so a 2-day+ tuna trip on a gross boat might be out of the questions, haha

Fisherman's Wharf out of Port Aransas has a couple of boats that are pretty awesome riding boats. If you are worried at all about comfort for wives and kids, the Scat Cat and Wharf Cat would be a good option. The boats are around 80 ft catamarans, with a very smooth ride. They have a huge galley with lots of seats and sell refreshments, sandwiches and soft drinks. The AC will also freeze your butt off.
The Scat Cat uses electric reels which makes it easy for children and women that aren't used to cranking up weights from 300 ft. Bathrooms are very clean! and both boats have an excellent upper deck for the cruise in and out, and just watching the fishing in general. These boats have been written off as serious sportfishing type of boats, but I highly recommend them for fun trips where it isn't all about the catching. Tom - DBG |

thanks a lot DBG - I think that would be ideal for those wanting to bring families. Since itd be a short trip, i'd stick to galveston-area boats, no need to drive down there........some of the guys live closer so that'll be a good option

when?...... if some of those "Some guys" wanna do a little 'day-tripping' i'm always looking for crew down there........ just depends on how many and when i'm usually there all spring and summer (boat's docked there year-round) and can take 3 or 4 out comfortably........ maybe 1 or 2 more if i took out the fighting chair i do not charter/will not charter..... but if anyone of "Some guys" wants to offer splitting expenses, they're welcome to join me on my sportfisher anytime the seas will allow me out......... weekdays as-well-as weekends i prefer to fish for marlin but do have alotta fun catching sails, tuna, wahoo, and dorado on-the-the-troll too............. could prolly work sumpin out if they JUST HAVE TO do some 'pole fishing' and oh yeah, fwiw,........... fuel's running about $600 +/- per day at current pricing all anyone would need to bring is a sack lunch, drinks, their favorite sea-sickness dope, along with 120lbs of ice if they wanna keep any fish got everything else (and then some) i just ask that there be no 'sloppy' drunks or college keg parties out there |

awesome man - thanks a lot. For me that would be worth driving down for. Doing snapper and other rig species isn't worth me blowing a ton on gas.....when you start talking real blue water fish them I'm game!
