YFT
Anyone have some recipes out there other then Hosen sauce and italian dressing, and pineapple marinade for on the grill. I prefer my tuna grilled not into broiling or sushi. I actually love sushi but do to my crohns the doctor says it is in my best interests not to eat sushi so there ya go. And has anyone tried making jerky out of YFT.
I have some tail pieces that I want to make some jerky out of. I have had tuna jerky before just never made it. |

catfish.. there are several good tuna recipes.. I like to use a little soy and some crushed cascabel peppers..on a real hot grill. I tried to stirfry some the other day in a little oliveoil, soy, fresh garlic.. I cut the tuna in 1in wide strips.. and it was awesome.
As far as jerky.. there was a thread on the 2coolfishing board about it.. I have never tried it but heard it was good.. I just started canning my tuna and I will never by starkist again.. Last edited by Bret : 10-18-2007 at 04:37 PM. |

I've been canning my tuna for about 3-4 years now and every time I give someone some I tell them it will make them throw rocks at Starkist and Charlie..... They usually agree... ![]() |

Bret..... I haven't looked in a while but I usually have a bush or three growing here on my place. I'll look to see if I have some going and maybe I could send you some. Do you like the reds or greens? Or both? If not, I'm going to Progresso Monday. I'll never forget the time I chopped up a couple of them and threw them in some pinto beans I was cooking ......wrong! . Last edited by awesum : 10-19-2007 at 07:53 AM. |

I use the same jars as for veggies, etc. I can tuna in either pint jars or 1/2 pint jars. The 24 qt would be way big enough. I use an old Sears 16 qt. that holds 7 pint jars and even more 1/2 pints. It needs a gauge because you have to make adjustments to keep the pressure at around 10 pounds.
