Dawn (at smoothdrag) will ask for your dimensions of your washers and can pretty much match them up. wouldnt be suprised one bit, to see the same size washers in the saragosa and spheros. (spheros are felt, and saragosa are dartanium)

FTU should give me a discount for this advertising

I hope the reel does well - itd be a nice alternative to the $1000 new stella

I have to say I was a bit apprehensive when I heard about this new reel but I was at a major fishing show in the NE today where I got to play with it and I was impressed. They even went as far as matching the color exactly with the Stella versions. For the money I would say this reel will sell very well.

I made the same conclusion as Glenn did after I saw Saragosa and Sphiros at the NY show.
All Aluminum frame and machined Aluminum handle shaft with Septon handle grip alone can justify the price difference between Saragosa and Sphiros.
The spools of 14000 and 18000 are interchangeable.

I would say this I spent major time discussing jigging with them, specifically about heir rods because they have great jigs, awesome reels the piece really missing is the introduction of a sturdy rod. They were very satisfied with what they have and do not intend on bringing anything else heavier because they aren't planning on making any heavier jigs.

I spoke about the new Japenese Stellas and the Blue Rose and Jig Rex rods and was given the nastiest look. "They are not our concern because we are Shimano North America"

Shimano is a marketing genius. Saragosa reels are introduced only to North America. They know Americans are practical and don't buy expensive ones unless it is justified. I am pretty sure fishermen in other countries will buy new expensive Stella as they did for old Stella. When I visited Korea, I gave my new Torium to my friend and I found he never used it as it is too cheap.

Here are pictures of Saragosa 18000F compared with Stella 8000 and 20000. The Saragosa 18000F has the same grip as Stella 8000, but the handle is identical to Stella 20000's. In fact, the handle of Saragosa 18000F and Stella 20000 are interchangeable.

its good that they made the handles interchangable - now if you have both reels you can mix and match handles to suit your needs

lol, asian pride j/k
it's the competitive nature to have the most expensive not necessary the best or the most appropriate. i'm leaning toward purchgasing the saragosa 18k for the oti 7.5'
