Quantum Aruba

I will be picking up an Aruba that will hold 600 yards of 50 pound mono. Can someone tell me how much 65 pound tuf line that translates to?

You still need to buy one? I have one I would like to sell if you are interested. Its a 30W thats never been fished. I would have to see what I paid to see what I want for it but It will probly be a better deal than anything you can find. I fit 500 yards of 100lb power pro with 90 yards of 80lb Ande on it. Only reason I am selling is cause I changed my mind to a 50W since I have my sights on a mako.

I saw a show where they caught a swordfish on one and said they had 1200 yards of either 60 or 65lb braid. Keep in mind its a wide reel which means you will have do a good job on keeping the line level while putting the line back on the reel. Id hate to know I just got done fighting a 200lb fish for 45 minutes and had to worry about the line getting bound up.

LOL, im anal about guiding the line on the reel as i fight fish. but, that does answer one of my questions. I want the reel for high speed wahoo trolling and daytime sword fishing.

600 yards of 50lb. mono assuming 0.70mm for thickness will give you 1,837 yards of 65# Tuf Line XP that has a thickness of 0.40mm. If you bump up to 80# with a 0.45mm thickness it is 1,451 yards.

If you don't have a calculator handly, you can compare mono to braid by dividing by 4 (it's not quite 4, but close). Then if you have to increase in size braid, just change the percentage of amount of line by the percentage of change in the stength of the line (again, this is not mathematically correct, but generally it works). So in this case 600 yds of 50# mono would be about 2400 yds of 50lb braid. For 65# braid, 15/65 is about 1/4, so reduce the 2400 by 1/4th, to get about 1800 yds. Not perfect, but this will generally be within 10% of being right. So for 80# you would have 30/80 or 3/8. So 3/8 of 2400 is 900, so you are are left with 1500 yds. Pretty close to what was calculated (more correctly I might add) in the previous post. The problem with using those calculations though is that the diameter listed on the box is not usually the diameter of the line.
