Any body know the breaking strength of the 50 lb power pro super slick. Its either the PP or Tuf line xp 50 lb.

I dont know about the super slick 8, but the normal PP braid i tested. 100lb line broke around 90lbs. Ive seen others say their 60lb breaks around 20-30 lbs...

I also tested my JB 130 hollow core, I lifted 3 45lb plates and it didnt break (135lb).

I bought a 1500 yard spool of PP 100, cause its cheap and i only needed 65-80 lb line. But really why go with something that is known to break below rated strength. Spend an extra .10-.30 a yard and get good line, why risk losing a big fish cause of cheap line?

I dont think testing on the new PP or the slick has been done. I believe all the claims of PP being "bad" is from the old stuff. Although I have used it since 2004 and not had even 1 problem, many others do report issues. There have been some pretty good reports on PP lately, since Shimano took over. I have the 80lb hollow ace and its good stuff. That being said, If the prices were the same, Id go with the proven, more tested brand. When cost comes into play, you have to weigh the pros and cons of each line and decide which is right for YOU.

Hi, you can check out this website in AU. Paul has been doing a lot of fishing line testing. Paulus Just Fishing

I recently sent him few couple of the line I am coming out with. When it is testing the line strength, are we talking about tensile strength or knot strength? If you are trying to test the knots strength, it will be hard to test because people tie knots differently. Checkout Paul's site.

The new Slick line have been selling very well. So well in fact that Power Pro can't keep up with demand. We have not had a spool come back yet, good stuff.

I agree, the older power pro had some issues but the newer line is pretty tough to beat.I also firmly beleive these days you get what you pay for.

Personally I had just as many issues with Daiwa Samurai as with PowerPro. The only difference was PP had better customer service.

Hey ReelMe, I have been courious about the hollow ace. I have not fished with it BC it felt stiff and may not be a good choice for live bait on a long soak with 40 to 60 plus yards or more out. Also How does it cast being it's not quite as limber as some other lines. I am thinking it is very easy to work with when it comes to splicing and inserting leaders. Your insight is appriciated.
BTW, I saw you have used a TZS70XH. I did not know they had a 7 foot popping rod. Thanks for the heads up. I have some Terez rods in my collection so today I picked up the TZS70XH for my Stella 10K...........Thanks, Mike
