Socal,
Thanks for the info. That's better info than I could find on the Internet. When I visit a strange town, I always avoid the tourist sites. I try to eat at all the dives and mix with the locals. I usually ask the cab drivers where they eat and what they do for fun in their town. My problem is that I am going with about 40 other couples. All the women plan the evenings. My wife knows I really don't like going east of the Mississippi so she has been reluctant to commit to dinner plans with other couples. These people only eat at 5 star places, so I gather the Dinosaur Barbecue in Harlem would cause quite a stir when I tell them "That is a must stop in NYC". I will go there if I make the trip, but I will probably be alone as I doubt anyone will go to Harlem with me. I enjoy seeing the worst sections of a city. In fact, where ever I go, I grab a cab and instruct the Cabbie to take me to the poorest area of the city. It's just a habit. In fact, where is the worst and roughest part of NYC? In other words, where would you never go? Last edited by Gunsmoke : 01-17-2007 at 11:41 PM. |
