Pelagique Belt for Fighting Belt

I'm looking to expand on the simple belt harness like for GT fishing, instead of the plate at my waist, i want it a bit lower, but I won't be using straps on the reel, just a place for the gimbal.

But if the long range style harness is a better overall match, I'll go with that in the Smitty or Black Magic harness.

What harnesses and belts are y'all using? Smitty, BM, for harness setups, and Tuna Max, Fisherman, Seven Seas for Belts only?

Yes, because when you get into serious fish with convential gear it pays for itself.

You need to be able to stand with your knees apart, feet planted at shoulder width and rock with the boat. The plate should stay in place. NOT slide off one leg and between your knees.

Small kidney belt... big back ache...

Listen to Snagged about what kind of setup to use. Black Majic is another good setup.

I know because I wasted my money on a kidney belt and small plastic plate.

those little bitty plates dont work well.
1.) got a smitty's belt. definately better, because the butt straps don't
allow it to ride up, & keeps your back triangulated to the rod.
2.) When it came time for the plate, I was surprised @ how WIDE of a
plate I actually needed. I actually set myself up in the harness W. the correct,
yet most comfortable stance against a loaded rod. I then had my wife measure across my thighs @ aprrox. where the plate would be. 18.5"
pretty wide, as I'm not anywhere near a big guy. Mark @ Charkbait explained
to me that I need a plate 4-6' wider than my stance. in my case, it was
the Smitty's Extra-large long-range plate. i never needed a xtra large anything, but After lots of testing, Mark was right, & It's a perfect match.

long & short= spend the $$ & buy MORE than you think you need, you don't
want to regret it later, it hurts!
