Modified Grouper Jig

As you can see, this is what happens when ur bored and have lots of gear..lol. I added a trailer to this jig with 500lb kevlar. Thought I would share.

Why is it necessary, they usually inhale the jig without the trailer hook.

Very true..I sometimes attach a whole cigar minnow to entice the attention and bite. And I like playin with kevlar.. ..just kiddin. Again, just a preference

No problem at all I was just wondering what the thinking was behind it. I do have very short strikes on that type of jig.

No problem Spiney..glad u asked as thats how we learn on this awesome site. Also, I also use that trailer to attach/secure a good size squid and jig the bottom, I've had rather good luck in that technique. Tight lines buddy...

Actually the idea has some truth in it , looks like the Decoy jig which its a Grouper killer when the dancing hook its well baited. Only thing the Decoy dancing hook its attached to the main hook

Looks good to me. Better make it a circle assist hook in the GOM. Like the Barefoot decoy jig. https://www.barefootfishing.net/shop....php?prodId=42. Leave the jig on the bottom and trail some bait behind.

I do..circle hooks are a must..IMO

I guess I am a pureist. I don't tip my jigs, I just hammer em all natural.
