    Large Swivel Help

I'm looking for a quality swivel with a large wire size. Small strong swivels like SPRO have such thin wires that they compromise KBS for 100# leaders and up.

I have some clunky old swivels with big wires that hold incredible KBS.

I'm looking for something with maybe a 1.00 to 1.05mm wire size. Any idea, anyone?

Here are the numbers I'm getting:

Using some 100 lb. fluoro that I have on hand, I tied some small 230 lb. swivels and some large 300 lb. swivels with heavy wire. Here are the results:

    For 100# fluorocarbon:
KBS (knotted breaking strength) in 230# small swivel = 55 lbs.
KBS in 300# large swivel = 92 lbs.

Matching swivel wire size to line size is critically important.

Spro makes a solid ring swivel rated around 500#'s; would they work. They also make a heavy duty swivel without rings; like a wind-on but rated up to 1000#'s.

Sampo ball bearing swivels are great, never had an issue including rust.

Try the Sampo 150lb. ball bearing swivels.

We use a much larger wire size on ringed hooks, 1.8mm, when tying knots. The Sampo X5R or X6R have wire about the size you're looking for, so do the larger SPRO power swivels.

definitely go with bigger rings and swivels if your gonna go with spro..........

i was using their 130# test regular swivels and ball-bearing swivels and was breaking those skinny rings just by pulling my knots tight using 50# test mono

of course i mighta had a bad batch but at their pricing it turned me off of spro....... i'll prolly be using bulkier sampo swivels from here-on-out

i don't like the looks of aussie style wind-on swivels but i have used'em w/o any problems breaking knots even though it looks like they have a sharp edge on the outer ends........... and i don't think they swivel as freely as standard ball bearing swivels do under tension either
