I was going to share some pictures of the new and improved UMC. It's cost me a lot of $$ to turn it into the Super Heavy Duty Ultimate Milk Crate. The
SHDUMC will blow your mind. It's a little over the top. By the time I fill up all the thirteen rod holders with premium tackle, I could have probably built a new house. Their will be some prototype SDPSSW in the SHDUMC.
It's still never seen a boat.

I'll have to christen it with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue at it's first outing.

Gee, do ya think? I was on the phone with another member of this board earlier tonight--talking about tackle, how to spool line, knots--that sort of thing. And somehow, the talk turned to, of all things, the UMC--and the two principal characters who have owned it. My friend said to me: "You know the really wierd thing about it is the thing is only designed for one thing and it is so heavy, noone would ever want to carry it on board and up the stairs." I replied, "Good God, no, that's not what's wierd about it. What's wierd is that it is useful only on board head boats--you would never use it aboard even a large private boat, and yet it was designed, financed, and constructed by a man who has declared he never goes on headboats--can't stand them and can't put up with the B.S. on them."

And what's even wierder is that the guy who buys it from Gunsmoke is himself a dude who damned near never fishes aboard a head boat. And what does he do with it? Pours more money (and for all we know, more concrete) into the damned thing which the odds are he too will never use for its intended purpose.

It's as though the Pharoas of Ancient Egypt had built the Pyramids for their tombs and then had themselves cremated instead.

I would invite anyone who wonders at such odd behavior to do a Google search on the Potlatching behavior of Indians in the Northwest during the 18'th and 19'th Centuries.

So yes, MrBill, I would say that it is indeed "...a little over the top." Keep your receipts Vern, and I will bet you a bottle of root beer that you end up putting more into that $#@%* UMC in the way of the way of "improvements" than poor old Uncle Russ spends on the entire POSMC. I may christen mine by pissing on it.

Hell, I never wanted the damned UMC in the first place!

Russ

It's just a game for some people. If they want something, they buy or build it. For the rest of us normal, average, Joe Blow fishermen, we have to work 60 hours a week just to buy a zebco combo from academy.

If you saw it right now you would freak out. I had it loaded up this afternoon. It's super heavy and very sweet. I almost had an orgasm just looking at it. In fact, I pulled up a chair and just stared at it for over an hour. It's almost to nice to put on a boat. I might just use it as a "Art Deco" piece. Of course, I doubt my wife would let me move it form the fishing room into her area.

Now that does it! I'm going to join the Communist Party and work to bring about the Revolution!

Post those Pictures, MrBill or admit it: You haven't done a damned thing to the UMC.

It's already began Russ.

Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!

This woman is frightening. She quotes..." We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Karl Marx say something like this), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest."

When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:
"We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'." (Read that quote again and again and let it sink in. Lower your retirement and give it to others who have not worked for it as you have.

I just hope she doesn't introduce a fishing milkcrate tax or God forbid, a fishing tackle inventory tax. I already pay enough taxes to feed, shelter and medicate the people that don't want to work for a living.

You hit it on the head, MrBill. I spent day-before-yesterday explaining to one young Obama voter I advise what effect the upcoming rollback of the estate tax exemption would mean for him and his family--either the loss of the land which his great great grandfather worked himself to death to acquire OR about a million and a half that his family had acquired through hard work on the ranch and in teaching and blue collar work over the last 150 years. He said: "Really? No shit?" That boy sobered up like Gunsmoke after finding out his show-pig made it eight miles down the freeway.

But what do I know--I'm just a typical white American, clinging to my guns and my God and stereotyping people who are different from me.
