I'm kind of partial to the 4-color OTI line... It make it easy to tell how much line you have out.

oh, where on the west coast?

I'm in So Cal. Most of my friends are using a knot called the Tony Pena, but for some reason, I have trouble with it. For leader to hook, I'll tie a San Diego or just a good old improved clinch (don't laugh, it hasn't failed me yet).

tony pena? like the first baseman who has been a letdown after a nice 2007 season? does the knot hold well for one cast then bottom out?

you're talking about braid to leader? do you have pics of the knot?

I found this site by searching the "Tony Pena Knot". I have no affiliation with this site.

Pena Knot

What's really cool about this knot is that the tag end points towards the spectra, so if you fish with a longer leader (that winds through your guides), it doesn't catch the guides during casting.
