Do you put a backing on your spectra?

With mono I always put the bulk spool on a spinning rack and stick it under water in an ice chest. A guide taught me this a while back. It makes the line pack tighter and with much less twisting.

I have not tried this method with braid yet. I am fixing to run 130lb jb hollow onto a bottom reel. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it works.

Do you set the spool in the cooler so the line is coming off the top of the spool like you would when spooling a conventional?

Also, do you let the line sit in the water before you spool it on?
