Kevin,

I don't know about the reel, but I've got a couple of old Penn spinners I would trade for a new one. Oh, wait...

And by the way, when you go on your December trip, if Gunsmoke is on the boat and hands you a loaded rifle, don't fire it.

Russ

if you even see Gunsmoke.. just turn and walk the other way.....lol... or else hide all you gear, and keep your hands in your pockets..hehe.. About to look up those tracking numbers on UPS to make sure its on its way! The packages left at 4:20pm today.

That reel you got looks pretty neat. I google searched it, and found a few sites with information on em. Kinda looks like it compares to a torium 30. Which will handle YFT. If it was used for Halibut, I am sure it has some drag that will allow you to handle YFT. Theres some swimbaits in the packages, those work good when the chunk bite is on(this reel you are askin about will work good for throwing those) practice before you go out.

I was going to Kona for New Years, but my wife is real sick right now and I canceled the trip today. So I just might come down to Port A and bring in the New Year with a Tuna & Marlin hunt. I've used up all my hunting tags and I'm in the mood to fish and test new tackle.

Oso, do you need a mentor? If so, I just might be the guy to brighten up your life. I do take firearms onboard and enjoy the sport of waking up flying fish with the sound of exploding gun powder. It's a powerful feeling being in deep blue water with a variety of guns, rods & reels, and a little libation to ease the edge.

It's like you own the world. Man, machine, whiskey, tackle, fish and only the rules you establish. It's a great way to relax, unwind and forget about all the daily hassles of life. The best part is you might hook on to something that is a lot more of a rebel than yourself. The thrill of locking up a drag and trying not to be pulled overboard is second to none.
