Daiwa Boat Braid

Is there a difference between Daiwa Samurai and Boat Braid other than color?

I use both. There is a difference. Samurai is made for casting while boat braid is better used for jigging or bottom fishing. Samurai is smoother in texture than the boat braid. I feel the boat braid is tougher than the Samurai but I have been using 80lb Samurai for tuna casting and 80lb/100lb boat braid for jigging without fail so far.

thank you; I forgot about using the search function for that specific question. I did boat braid but I didn't find my answer. I'll be using this for inshore casting so it looks like the Samurai should be the better choice.

Daiwa Surf is nice for inshore casting too... There are smaller line weights and smaller spools to fit smaller spinning reels.

Mike,

The only place in Tampa Bay that I know carries Samurai is Bill Jacksons. I get my Daiwa Boat Braid from Gandy Bait & Tackle. Bill Robinson ordered for me along with some Daiwa Sacrifice jigs.

need bulk, but is Surf a better choice for inshore than Samurai? I'm looking for PE3 diameter that will test to 35 to 40#'s ABS. All of the reels for this will be spinning.

Surf was good stuff, but unfortunately, I think Daiwa has discontinued the surf braid as I don't see it listed on their web site anymore and there are few dealers for it around.
