Casting with Spectra

I have a Shimano Thunnus that has 65 specta with a bimini, yucatan knot to 12 feet of 60 lb mono. When I cast it the mono seems to cast fine, but when the spectra starts spooling the line seems to float and I don't think I am getting the casting distance I should be getting because of it.

Is this just part of having spectra or is there something I can change in my technique to add distance to my cast? Thanks.

Your first guide, is either too small or too close to your reel.
Replace it with larger size ring or place it further away from your reel might solve your problem. JMO
