I received my copy of a popular fishing magazine last week, and there is a section in it that describes new products. One of the featured products in this month's issue is the Bubba Blade knife. The Bubba Blade™. The Ultimate Fishing and Hunting Knives. They offer two knives, one of which is flexible and similar to a fillet knife, while the other is called the 'Stiffie', and it has a cymitar (sp?) shaped 9" blade. I watched the videos, and I decided to order the heavier Stiffie as I've already purchased every fillet knife that Cabosandinh has ever mentioned in his lifetime. I know that San recommends a larger cymitar knife for 'breaking', and the Stiffie looked like it would certainly do the job.
The UPS man just delivered my Stiffie, and wow, will it ever shave anything! The knife is substantial enough to cut through any large, tough hide/skin, and the overall design is well planned. The nylon sheath is adaquate, but I'm afraid that it will get cut up pretty badly inserting and extracting the knife over and over again. I'm not crazy about the color of the handle, but it's very non-slip, and it will be hard to mis-place the knife as it is very easy to see. The blade is Teflon coated, too.
Overall, for the money, I'm impressed.
