That's exactly how I use that knot!

My test consisted of pulling (with two leather-gloved hands) after tying a Trilene knot onto a big hook (4 foot piece of 50 lb mono) that was hooked around a stair railing.

The knot never (in 7 diff connections) failed.

I was using solid JB 65# though.

Tom, As I said, I have never really done a test yet, but I got lazy one day, just wanting to do a drag test on my spinners, and I tied a 2-turn surgeon's loop in 50, JB solid, one in 65 PP, and one in 80 PP. I took them up to some pretty heavy drags--enough to hurt my lower back and arms, and had no problems.

Bimini in hollow braid.

I've tied I don't know how many bimini loops in 135lb Izorline and never had a failure.

I use a 60turn knot, single lock around one leg, and a five turn uni which I back-wrap to ensure a very tight lock knot, finished with a very tiny drop of super glue on the tag end.

This knot has boated Bluefin 650lb+ and Blue Marlin 1000lb+.

Comes "highly recommended".
