Finally got my B2-30 spooled up last week in preparation for overnight trip that was unfortunately cancelled... Pics show it loaded with 500yds of 120lb OTI. It's packed tight and there's just enough room for short leader.

I loaded mine up with 100# Jerry Brown Hollow and it is awesome. Most of us on the west coast prefer the hollow though the 100# is a bit tougher to work with than either the 80 or 130 hollow as far as splicing and knotless loops. For folks who are not that adept at working with hollow you can splice in 20 or so yards of 130 hollow on top of the 100# to make it easier to work with and still get maximum line capacity. Since I use an Ozaki Line Winder (Which may be the best winder on the market) I can load my reels at the same drag capacity as a cow puts on it though I tend to be closer to around 20#'s when loading the reel. My Accurate Boss 30 got around 600 yds + room for my short top shot. This will be a cow reel for me as well as all other assorted tuna which will be in the same area. So far the reel has performed flawlessly and hope to test it out again on our cow trips in November and April. Weight has been no issue at all and fishing out of a harness or rail has been a pleasure. I happen to use both techniques on Cow size tuna. Lugged or unlugged Accurate really has it right for those looking to fish a mid priced Accurate with big fish performance. Will it compete neck and neck with the Platinum.... Nope but how many folks are fighting 200 + pound tuna on a regular basis. Thus this mid size reel will fit most anglers requirements beautifully. Nothing out on the market compares.

Jamie,
I agree. The B2-30 is a sweet reel. Can't wait for the Twinspin 50 to hit the streets. Have you seen a B2-50 yet?

Yes, I got to fondle a prototype at the Fred Hall show in Feb. It looks like it will be a beautiful reel as well once again filling in the gap for folks looking for more line capacity at the right price. Open top again for ease of use and I do not believe the price differential will be that much over the 30 but we will see. Both reels are wonderful pieces of equipment. Jamie |

B2-30 40Lbs Drag Fight
Mr. Bill, I just fought a 200+ shark with 40Lbs of drag and it felt VERY smooth, but a little painful on my back!!!! I really had to lean back not to get pulled over. Just so you get an idea, I am 6'2" and 215 pounds.
Loved the B2-30!!! Last edited by clalo20 : 11-03-2008 at 01:55 PM. |
