Jig: I can assure you that the folks at Accurate don't worry too much about one old fart who owns six of their reels when they have world-class collectors like MrBill buying their stuff by the container shipload.

MrBill: That is some good info and also good news about the reels' apparent strength. Recommend the following test: crank the drag to about 15 pounds, put the clicker on, and pull out some line while listening to the sound of the clicker. Then, when you find the approximate maximum drag you would use, repeat the test and see if the clicker sounds like the Aflac duck choking to death on crushed glass.

As for the 665, you pretty much hit on what I intend to do with mine--use it to target fish that are not "...beyond its design." Snapper come to mind and maybe Blackfin.

Russ

Russ, using the 665 to target snapper and blackfin would be a disgrace to the reel. I'm getting ready to put some line on the B2-30 so I can use it this weekend. I can't decide if I should use 80 or 130 braid. I'm estimating around 700 yards of 80. I'll try the clicker test. The clicker on the B2-30 is very loud.
I only use clickers when trolling. As soon as my hands hit the reel, the clicker is off.

Clickers drive me nuts. I wake up every morning to that Penn 20 international alarm clock. You've probably seen it in catalogs. I've had it about 12 years. It still works. I'll take a click of it. It's still in great shape for being around a guy that breaks a lot of stuff.

Here's some more pics of the B2-30.

Very nice photos.
Is the Tee handle
about equal to the reel
Dia @ 3 3/8" ?

The drag markings, OFF - ON - MORE,,, caught my eye
And make sence to me.

Hope you get a big fish on the reel 1st time out.

Mr. Bill....I see that Mahi Tackle has the B2-50 for sale...but not the B2-30.
Where did you get your B2-30?

To me, it looks more like a 100# reel. But then, I'm not fond of 80# line; and, I doubt it'd hold enough 130# to be trusted. That's what 50's are for, anyway.

Thanks for the comparison pix. They make the B2-30 look like a logical step up from the 665.

I'm going to probably pull the trigger on one soon....and I like the idea of having 700 Yds. of 80# or just a little less with a fluorocarbon topshot.
(I have ideas of jigging with this reel).
