That is a good question Tony. I would like some input on that subject as well. There have been a few caught about 65 miles from Port Aransas, out around the east breaks area.. It is a big drop off on the 100 fathom curve..
Hopefully someone will chime in! |

Tony, I think What we really need is to get out there and find out for our self.
In Florida, live bait and squid has been producing good numbers of Swordfish. We need to make a trip just to target them, What you guys think? |

Hey, how about rig up daisy chain dead squid and use it as a teaser.
Say like this, we rig up about 6 squids, 2ft apart at the end attacht it to a 12-16 oz sinker, and LP light just below the swivel, on top of the squid that what i mean. I think the bait you put out there the more chances to encounter them, but crew need to be very alert to clear lines if get a hook up. Do you guys think it will work? |

I guess that I am not being clear, I am asking....
What does a good swordfishing area look like on a sea chart. How can I tell if an area might be holding swordfish before I even go there. What makes an area worthy of putting in the time and effort? I am more than game for a trip. I like the idea of your squig chain TJ. I do wonder what happens if you get hit in the middle of the chain? |

Structure, drop off, temperatur break, and ripped line. About the squid chain, it was just pop out of my mind, never tested it yet LOL, if it get hit in the middle, we would pull it out of the water, just like what they do on the marlin fishing, bait and switch. If we got hit we would know there might be swordfish in the area , Let's come out with an idea that we can try it out. How about a Swordfish trip with Capt.Eddie on first or second week of June? Anyone game for it? |
