there was an article about swordfishing in the Fort Worth Star Telegram today. i am unable to find a link. Interesting stuff about catching them without lights. I wish I could find the link. He has the record for number of swords caught and they do not use electric reels.

Yea thanks for the link to the article.

Now Uncle Russ will be bringing 3 more rod/reels and 2 more tackle bags to target Swordies. I am sure glad the boat is as big as it is.

If you'd like a good, but short, read re swordies, try this SPC Fisheries Newsletter #96 - Swordfish opportunity for Pacific Island Countries and Territories: How to dress swordfish for the US market

Be sure to bring your deep drop rigs w/2000+ yds of 130 lb line, 10-20 # concrete wts; and, don't forget the electric drive and marine battery for the reel.

I'm impressed; but not crazy. Most swordie techniques I've heard about involve managing (repeated drops, retrieves, fish fights, etc) 500-2,000 yds of line. You could get a popeye arm or a claw hand or both.
