Sure, Capt Darrell Lee used to make his lures Starlures in Hawaii but now is in San Diego.
Steve Coggan was in Hawaii also but now makes his custom lures in Northern California. Darrell does seminars on Marlin fishing and cowrote the book "Hell, Marlin can't read" Steve Coggin does well on any tournam, ent boat that will have him. He just placed in a couple tourneys in Hawaii and Darrell's lures won somethiong like 5 of 6 Marlin Tournaments this year in So Ca. Both are good friends of mine and I just merged my high Speed line of lures in with Darrell. Goes to show you that some lure makers can get along.

Aloha Everyone
Well this is my first post on this site. I just wanted to say thanks for the kind words Big Mike. Also those of you who use my lures,Thankyou. I just got back from Hawaii on a three week trip. I had a great tournament over at Maui. In the Lahaina Jackpot we took second place . In the shoot out tournament ,my friend took first place with a 609 blue marlin. What was so cool about this was that he had a dream that he caught the winning fish off of one of my lures. That winning fish won him 64 K. I was there and got to be a part of it.Thought I would share a little story with you guys. Good luck with the box of lures I sent you Big Mike. Let me know what you think. Aloha Steve |

There are a few lure makers that actually get along well together. I know seemed like an urban legend, but it's true.
Steve is one of the orriginal and most copied lure makers I know. BigMike

speaking of copied, are your 'marlin magnets' the same size as the original witchdoctor?....... no dimensions given on your website i think i remember a post about your coversation with pakula about'em, but don't remember if anything was mentioned concerning their size tow cable? Hi Bill, Great question and thanks for remembering I saidd they were a copy. The great people at henderson Australia bought the company and the Marlin Magnet was part of the product line. They were troubled because it was almost exacly like a witchdocter, a trully orriginal idea from Peter Pakula, who by the way is a class act.
When they talked to Peter he told them not to worrie about it. By the way the henderson Australia people make large donations to the Pakula Friends Tournament and they are good friends with all involed. The only diference beside color is that the Marlin Magnet has a ball contraption inside that makes noise when bouncing through the water. I stock those MM's and will make any custom wire harness you would like free with purchase. As you know the MM is a dead teaser meaning it has no hooks and it is very common for the lures next to it to be hit most often. It's trolled just pass the prop wash and I have put them about 20ft from the transom. They are 15 3/8 in and wieght of 750 grams. They come in red, pink, yellow and woodie. Woddie has the cool factor but pink or yellow are the most productive. Real conversation starter on the docks. ![]()
