Having had only moderate success in finding others interested in 'big-game fishing', i've joined 360tuna in hopes of finding others interested in fishing out of PI/SPI for marlin and the by-catch that comes with'em (sails, hoo, tuna, kings, dorado...)
post up if anyone here is interested in joining me 'big-game fishing' this up-coming 2007 season out of PI/SPI I have my boat docked in Port Isabel, Texas, a home there, and am in the STBGFC (South Texas Big Game Fishing Club) most everyone i fish with/speak with, already has a boat there and fishes the STBGFC tournament days from their own boat i would like to put together a 'team' (so-to-speak) to fish the STBGFC tournaments from my boat and so far i have found one other person with the time and resources to be an angler on 'tourney' days......... but need more but mostly i'm looking for help reeling-in-the-biggun's all summer long........ weekdays as-well-as weekends, or just plain anytime the seas will allow (club member-or-not!) i just can't seem to get enough trips in in one season to satisfy my 'bluewater-sweet-tooth'.......... i'm always on 'go'......... got the boat, got the equipment, and Lord knows,....... i got the fever need hardcore 'big-game' fisherpersons to help work-the-rods, teasers, fight the fish, and pass beer to the shrimpers Last edited by Bill Fisher : 12-12-2006 at 02:56 PM. |

Hi Bill Fisher- Welcome to 360tuna!
You've definitely found a bunch of hard-core fishers and you'll be able to fill your open spots. If you could provide how the crew splits the cost or even general direction on how you run your trips, you'll ensure you get the best fit in crew. Welcome again! |

thanx........ i generally run straight to marlin grounds dragging hi-speed lures all-the-way to bluewater and i cut back on the speed once i hit bluewater if guests wanna try for the 'incidentals' (sails, tuna, dorado, wahoo, kings, etc.) whilst working our way t'ward where i figger bigger game might be lurkin' (their choice) i would hope that anyone that's interested be willing to pay for their share o'the fuel and show up with @ least 120lbs of ice i'm usually pretty busy with the boat early in the morning to be runnin' out for ice....... but if need be, i can sometimes get the ice on-the-boat the night before if i figger i'll be gettin' some help with that expense too can count on an average of 15gph unleaded, more-r-less, depending on how everyone's pocketbook is feeling <vs> the price o'fuel...... run hard/run fast, more fuel trips usually range form 12 to 16mpg depending on who's willing to do what......... i'll occasionally putter out on short trips at slower speeds and get 8gph, but don't expect to catch near-what-we-would otherwise i hate to even-leave-the-dock without the intention of puttin' in 12hrs-r-more it's a bring-your-own-lunch/drinks deal, with however much water you'll figger you'll drink during the day........ i have a 40 gallon freshwater tank, but i only drink bottled water and i also carry enough extra food & water for everyone jest-in-case I personally don't care to spend any money on snapper-fishing or drifting wrecks for AJs, (what-with-my 'big-game-fishing-fever' being what-it-is), but i do love getting out none-the-less and enjoy seeing other people catch fish (hint) got everything needed,......... 'cept anglers |

i catch tuna (sometimes whether i-like-it-r-not ![]() if you need more details than my last post provided, lemme know i prefer chasing strictly tuna during fall winter rather than in the summer, but sometimes ya just can't help but fill the boat with schooling blackfin and an occasional yellowfin-r-two down there had a 200#+ yellowfin swallow one of our blackfin whole whilst reeling it in this summer gotta go run some errands now......... (i'll check back later) |

Two of tyhe best Marlin guys in the world are creeping arround out there working up the nerve to post. If any of you have any questions for Capt.Darrell Lee or Steve Cogan one of the orriginal Hawaii style lure makers and one of the most copied, go ahead and ask. They have been checking in.

that's a distinct possibility......... if i'm unable to put together enough anglers for a STBGFC team, i'll be looking for help during the TIFT.......... my TIFT catch also counts t'ward points in the 'season-long' STBGFC tourney last year i had a shot at a winning yellowfin during the TIFT but didn't have a 'real' crew to help me land it........ it was just my wife's cousin and his 11-yr-old nephew even if we'dda landed it, i had already immediately disqualified it by turning it over to her cousin so i could help fight it with the boat (he wasn't familiar w/twin inboards) and he only lasted about 30 minutes before wanting to turn it back over to me...... and i spent another 30 minutes-r-so bringing it to the surface whilst giving him instruction on how to operate the boat the hour-long battle took it's toll on the 200# leader raking back-n-forth across it's teeth and snapped at the surface a few yards behind the boat.......... it was an easy 6 1/2' to the fork puttin' it around 200# the TIFT winner this year was less than 50# we had caught no marlin either because we spent all our time letting the little fellow have fun catching blackfin and dorado (which is what the big yellowfin hit, a 'hooked-up' blackfin)........ that, and i knew i didn't have the crew to even 'take on' a marlin but we had fun |

sure....... i'm always interested in hearing about everyone's personal choices about some of the little things....... like hook rigging on their marlin lures little things like, "do you have one preferred hook rigging method for all your lure's?, or rig differently for head-style, length, and/or position run in the spread?" and preferences for teasers (if any) Last edited by Bill Fisher : 12-03-2006 at 09:11 AM. |
