tuna question

The new Frenzy bite size flyer only weighs about 1 1/2 oz. It really looks like a killer bait, sizewise etc. To aid casting how about fishing it behind a rattle float? Lots of splash and noise, what does everyone think?

I've always wanted to cast 2 at a time. I may try it later this month. I just ordered some. I am considering rigging the bitesize with about 8 inches of leader. Attach to main line with a swivel. Then crimp a 3 foot leader to the same leader, rubberband the leader to the head adn tail of the small freazy, and attach to a large flier. Have trailer hooks on both. Then fricking hold on. On a wide open bite, I bet both get hit. Maybe put a bottle cap in front of the lead frenzy.

The flying fish just float around stunned after getting smashed by a tuna. I would think that just floating the Frenzy would be better....if you need weight, it might be a good idea to put on the line in the lure itself somehow.

Two at a time....sounds like one hell of a fight! I would like to see the deckhands gaff both tuna at the same time....could be interesting.

Richard, just modify my lazy technique of casting and doing nothing. Just add a few in series.

I have drifted them behind the boat on the big E without a hit. However, drifting may work a lot better with a smaller boat. We should drift a daisy chain with a hook in each on our trip at the end of the month.

Lightbulb

Put one on a leader behind a Komodo OTI Popper... best of both worlds

When I was getting bit on the large sized Frenzy Flyer.. I was doing 3 hard Jerks and trying to pause it on top a wave. I noticed the larger YFT cruise up and down the peaks of the waves length wise looking for flyers. I presume the Flyers rest on the wave peakes so they can more easily fly to safety. The tilted back wings on the Frenzy Ballistic Flyers make a heck of a splash when you give it a sharp pull, because they are desighed to ride Up Top when trolled.

When a YFT over 100 Lbs hits the Fake Flyers it's like a train wreck.. all you can do it hang on and follow them until they slow down start to sound. I had a larger YFT take 450 yds of line straight down and the hooks pulled.

Have Fun with them Mini Flyers Yall.

I agree. The fight is much better on the flying fish than a popper since the FF does not use the treble hook.

I just received a bunch of new Frenzy Flyers in the mail today. Man, they look great! The new rigging looks to kill as the leader is threade through the tail with a treble hook near the tail. There is a potential problem of the tail wearing quickly, do I may rerig one and compare. I also prefer the single hook because the fish fight a lot better, so I may stick to the stinger. I will let everyone know as I am off to Venice in 2 and a hallf weeks, so I will fill everyone in on how they do.

Hey Scott,

I picked up three of the Frenzy Angry poppers....if there are dorado in the neighborhood....I'm gonna hook up! (At least I hope...)

I may even try those poppers at the floaters....
