correct me if i'm wrong, at the lump there are no flying fish, popping is very limited since top water feeding isnt as furious, jigging depth is less than 200' and there are hundreds of boats anchored in parking lot style fishing, no schooling bft and it's mostly a daytime bite. i think i'm leaving everything at home and bringing just my avet LX setup and a few jigs for snappers & sharks, for yft i'll use capt eddie's rigs..

I highly recommend to bring lots of jigs when you fish Lumps in winter.
Thought I haven't caught any yft on jigs on the Lumps in winter, a guy I know from NY had three yft on jigs on the Lumps. While I didn't catch yft, I caught variety of fish like blackfin, bonito, king mackerel, wahoo, snapper and even grouper on jigs. You are going to lose lots of jigs because of king mackerel and wahoo. So bring lots of cheap jigs. I lost about 15 jigs on one day trip. We also caught a few blackfin tuna on poppers.

86 lbs wahoo caught on a 8 oz hammered diamond jig at the Midnight Lump in winter.

Nice 'hoo, Kil! maybe this will be the trip I finally get mine!
Kil, if jigging specifically for 'hoo's, can I use wire, or will it cut down on strikes like on tunas?

awsome 'hoo Ksong.
based on a search of earlier posts, i think capt eddie will search for yft and make runs to deeper rigs during winter if the yft bite doesnt materialize at the lump. i'm for jigging up a few groupers anyday. the cinco groupers has been depleted and i'm ready for pulling up goliaths. 5 weeks to go .. brian are you collecting payments yet?
