2 possible techniques I'll try
What about using 2 jigs in tandem for deep drops, a large one followed by a smaller one or with them reversed. Only the trailing jig would have hooks. Second idea would be a small bird followed by a small flyer or swim bait for surface action. Did anyone try throwing a cedar plug? Can you tell I'm bored sitting here in D.C.? Comments?

Nate, the only problems I see with a tandem jig setup, is that you wouldnt get the normal action of the jig and what if the fish hits the hookless jig??? or worse, if a darn cuda cuts you off, you loose 2 jigs..
I never saw any cedar plugs thrown.. but I did see some success on the swimbaits.. I just wish someone would design a swimbait with a xx strong hook, because a decent sized tuna will straighten out most hooks on production swimbaits.. |

I agreeabout the swimbaits. I've thought about texas worm rig style, strong hook in the swimbait with a slip sinker ahead of it for weight. You could use a toothpick to pin the sinker the way bass firhermen do. What do you think?

I got a dvd from Anglers Pro-shop that shows an angler deep dropping five jigs in tandem. It worked, he got multiple strikes and lost the whole setup on first drop in less than 30 seconds.
Guy must have been bored out of his mind. He was catching big fish in almost every drop on single jigs prior to that. |
