Jerry, that was incredible! My adrenaline is pumping hard right now.
My 92 year-old grandfather still tells me stories of fishing in the racks for albacore & bluefin out of Santa Monica in the 30's & 40's. Back when you could still catch bluefin @ Catalina, & albacore as close as horseshoe. Wish it was still that easy. thanks for the clip -Brian |

I have that DVD movie, nice documentary of tuna fisherman.
I think traditional Japanese and some Asian commercial fisherman still using that method. I have one friend, he's been on that kind of ship 6-7 years ago. |

DeepBlueGulf and I had the pleasure of watching Capt. Norm pole fish yellowfin on the Shogun off of Guadalupe a few years back...he made it look so easy, like in the video there.
Meanwhile (now) Capt. Bruce would hook up a big yellowfin on a monster (8 foot at least) limbre rod with a Newell single speed and hand it off, that was actually my first yellowfin - and it wasn't so easy ![]() Earl |
