Destin Head boat recommendations
Will be in Destin vacationing w/ the family in a couple of weeks and want to get offshore. I'm not sure which day I'll have free so I'll probably just jump on a head boat instead of trying to get on a group charter. Want to jig some instead of just soaking bait but it seems that some of the boats (Sweet Jody, Swoop) are anti-braid. Anyone fished the Destin Princess?
thanks in advance. |

Mainly jigs. I caught about 10 snapper (6 being keepers), one on a botton rig with a whole mackeral at a grouper spot, 3 and the gag with a whole cigar minnow pinned to the jig's assist hook, and the rest of the snapper, 4 bonito and huge lizard fish on bare jigs. The long style jigs (150g benthos and 160g Daiwa scarfice) seemed to be the most productive but the 200g OTI Jagger produced as well.
A tourist caught a beautiful red grouper that was 15-18#. Quote:
