CAF "Tex Hill AVG Flying Tigers Commemerative" P-40 Warhawk Update

We got the wings joined together & bolted back on the fuselage. Installed the Engine intake air scoop and lower cowl, Flaps... the Main Gear painted Silver and Wheel Wells are painted Sky blue.

Engine Air intake repairs

Simulated 50 Cal Guns

I also fabricated new Stainless Steel carb heat exchanger cuffs for each side of the engine

She goes to Final Paint on Tuesday!

Thanks guys..

She should be all painted and ready to test fly by next weekend.. we hope. Being a temperamental 65 year old War Bird she has a mind of her own about helping us keep our schedule. Its down to the finer points of flight control rigging, tail wheel srut rebulid, new main gear tires and installing fairngs.

She's all Cowled Up, all the flight controls are installed and rigged, and has new set of tires. We had the typical 65 year old warbird set backs putting her back together but no fuel leaks and no hydraulic leaks.

She is in the paint shop getting new Warpaint as you view this. they are almost done with the prep work and have the lower wing surfaces painted skiy blue.

She will be painted to commemorate Texas WWII Ace "Tex Hill's " colors and squadron insignias from the AVG Flying Tigers fame and will have Tex Hill listed as the pilot.

This is a part of Texas Legend and US History Military Aviation History.. I'm proud to share with my Fishin Buddies across this great state!
