Amberjack Season Closed?

I was reading and have heard that Amberjack season closed March 14th and won't open again until May 31st. I called up Texas Parks and Wildlife and they told me State water's it's still open. I told her that there aren't any Amberjacks in State water's that I know of as it's to shallow. She then went to the Fed's page and she found nothing about it. She also told me that the Fed's are slow to update. Anybody else know anything about the Federal waters being closed to Amberjacks?

Check out the bottom of Tommy Gueldner's page dated March 21st. Here is the link. Offshore Report

That is for commercial fishermen, Mr. Bill.

I have tremendous respect of Captain T's fishing and captaining abilities. He is a good a captain out there.
That said, that was the worst offshore report I have ever read. Not only was 3/4's of the article a waste, the last paragraph had several inaccurate bits of information including AJ and snapper season information.
The fish catching areas were not very accurate either.
You exect more from Captain T than that. If the fishig is so slow or you're traveling then do a report on something that will help out once the fishing picks up. Lures, rigs to use, something that is of use to Texas fishermen, not this.
You expect quality from Capt.T and this is not quality reporting.
Thank God it's a Texas report and honest comments can be posted.

hey........ you can't blame the fella for trying to keep his audience from bagging AJs for a few months

LMAO!

and for everyone else reading this!...... all fishing for marlin, wahoo, sailfish, tuna, and dorado has been suspended for the remainder of 2008!

(it's TRUE!... you just read it in black-n-white right here on the internet!)
