Kil, I know that you are right in your advice... This gives me cause to wonder about how much I read on any one website is going to be correct. Not even politically correct. Just completely truthful. Just an opinion.... I am reminded of my learning curve regarding blue water tackle. You must learn to first sort the bull from the truth. Then you must learn to decipher what truth will best work for you. Good websites are often young and small. Ideals are held tightly. Individual ideas are treasured. When websites start to court many advertisers, they become more mature and street-wise. More like women of the night and their attendants that are no longer tolerant of fresh ideals.... Just my ramblings... If I stept on your toes.... Ya needed it. Ifna ya said WTF is he talking about???? I'm glad fer ya. We all need to just go fishing. Gunsmoke and MrBill... I wanna fish with you guys one day. |

I remember that event very well. That was some time ago. That guy wouldn't shut up. He had a pile of about 25 little 12" specs and was using up the whole fish house. I came into the fish house with some hoo's and dolphin.
I put them on the floor hoping he would move some of his stuff by the time I got back with the second load. When I returned, he hadn't moved anything so I asked him for some space. The fish house can handle at least three people at a time. He gave me this dirty look and said something like "With those trash fish." I put them on the ground and went back for the last load and told Gunsmoke that there was real AH in the fish house. When I go back inside the fish house for the third time, I moved some of his tiny trout to the side. He stared barking at me. I minded my own business and started on our fish. He kept bragging about how good of fisherman he was and how offshore fishing doesn't required any skill and a real man fishes the bay. I listened to that crap for about ten minutes without saying a word. What made me blow up was when he stole one of my ziplock bags. I waited until he put down his filet knife. I remember grabbing his throat with my left hand and his crotch with my right. I picked him up in the air and tossed him through the screen onto the asphalt. I don't pick on anyone, but this guy was obnoxious and needed a reality check. I don't remember taking a leak on his lunch meat. I do remember whizzing in his bags of trout filet's. |

Yeah on some of those west coast boards they drop a lot of F bombs.
I am no prude but that dosn't sit to well with me. So I lurk and read the long range reports. I do feel bad for those guys that take 2 and 3 days trips out west and get to report catching a calico bass or a killer 20lb fish with a yellow tail. Of course this is no reflection on AL's reel repair or fishing reports. His stuff is great. So now really Mr. Bill tell us just how you feel about Avets? (stirring the pot) K2 |

I'll be honest. I never have bought one. Therefore, I have no comment. ![]() If I did buy one, ......................it would have a short life once one individual found out about it. I will say that the moderator of the tackle board did an outstanding job on his new thread. To bad it was deleted so quickly. It was very well written. I agreed with everything he wrote. Even the part about me. I'm happy to see I was noticed. It was a fun twenty minutes of mind games. How's that rod of yours that took a beating on that 127# YF? That thing looked like someone ran over it with a truck. Have you fixed the broken gimbal? Also, for the record, did I give you a hard time on that trip about your Avet's? |

Yeah that Kencor Rod took a beating from the rail on the Gulf Eagle. Man those rails felt high to me by the end of the night after those 3 yft and 15-20 bft. I was looking for a box to stand on,on that last fish I did not have the arm stamina left to keep it off the rail. I later checked and the LX 6\1 was still set at 21lbs at strike as before the trip. So the blank did ok on the 80 lb yft, Bft and the Dodo hooked on it. But after the last fish It did looked torn up didn't it? I've removed the reel, checked the eyes, re-epoxyed a new gimble and mounted a Pro-Gear 454 on it and set it back in the rack which I think it will stay until a King\Ling type trip comes up. But for the record; No you actualy did not make any neg comments about Avets on that trip. Although I did mention that I thought my EXW 4 sounded like a coffee grinder when I was winding in a chunk. Hope to bump into you again out there some time. K2 |

I would have put that rod on the wall with a picture of that 127 pounder underneath it. That just might be the largest YF you will ever catch night fishing. Do you remember all those snow birds asking questions about the tuna at the fish cleaning house? This past weekend it was really bad. One guy pulled up and asked if he could have the carcasses that were in a trash can next to my truck. I was processing the tuna on the tailgate as usual. I told him "Yes." At that point I had about 20 more to process. The guy left to go get a big cooler from a buddy. While he was gone getting his cooler, two or three more wanted the carcasses. I politely told them that I had promised them to another gentleman. They just stood there like vultures begging to take them and asking me questions after questions. I finally told them if they would be quiet they could have them. Right after that, the first guy comes back with his big cooler. He jumped on me for giving them to someone else. He started telling the other vultures that his wife had cancer and that she needs to eat tuna every day. One vulture told him that was BS. They started yelling at each other. At this point we had about 8 vultures hanging around my truck arguing about medical issues and how they need the left overs to live on. I was tired and didn't say a word. We just kept filleting away. I just wanted them shut up and give me some peace. After listening to those diesel engines for the past 50 hours, I didn't need to hear a bunch of old cheap tight arse's fight over tuna parts. My friend that went on the trip with me was getting a little irritated with the group. I had taken 450 pounds of ice with me. We were just rough cutting and placing big fillets into those big 2 1/2 gallon ziplock bags. When the original guy asked if he could bum some ice we both turned into arse's like the vultures. Not only were they not allowed to have any more, we made them stand 100 feet away from the truck. We told them if anyone spoke a single word, we would pour diesel fuel over the carcasses. I just hope I'm never at a point in my life where I have to beg and fight with others for left over fish parts to eat. If I do, I will ask only once and keep my mouth shut and not ask for ice, extra ziplocks, and "Can I borrow one your knifes for a few minutes". Now that's off my chest, I hope we do run across each other again, as I enjoyed fishing with you. ![]() |
