Spooling 30 vsw

Well guys my dad's friend gave him a 30vsw standup combo for his birthday but he had no use for it and said if I paid him a few hundred for it and covered spooling cost it was mine so I accepted. I was wondering what to spool it with and wether or not to add a 50vsw handle. thanks for the help guys.

Yeah.. at least 80lb to 130lb spectra, depending on what you are going to use the reel for.. and Like Snagged said.. and different line class topshots. You will be ready for nearly anything.. Thats pretty cool that your Dad made you a deal on that rod and reel.

Very cool!

That's what Dad's are for, right? (among many other important things too!)

well thanks guys I just have one more question. What about adding a 50 vsw handle for more power. BTW I got a little more than 500 yds of berkley 130 hollow spooled on it and I knotless spliced it to a decent topshot of 60# hi test. So what about the handle? Is it necessary?

The 50VSW handle seems to be the same as the 30VSW. I got that info from
http://www.scottsbt.com/catalog/stor...9&ClearCache=1
The part no. 24N-30S Handle is $32.50

I would go with a Reel Colors handle.

http://www.reelcolors.com/reelcolors_004.htm

You can pick one up through Capt Harry's Fishing Supply of Miami. You'll have to call. It's not on their web site. Order# C75-03951 $55.95

Necessary? No, not at all. The Reel Colors handle makes a much more ergonomic grip. It's hard to grip small handles with large hands.

130 lb hollow. Knotless. I am convinced that I will get more familiar with this hollow spectra. I have a very small amount of knowledge about it , but then again I haven't made a point to find out alot about it. The hollow is thinner or just as thick ? I will make a new thread and post up !!!
