DeepBlueGulf is on a distinguished road
jt2hunt,

I'll mention some things about the Dolphin that can make it a less than pleasant trip depending on your preferences. And I'll also tell you that if we didn't have the Big E or the Pelican, well, I'd fish the Dolphin.

1. It is LOUD! You can't sit on the back deck and troll because you need earplugs. It has the loudest exhaust of any boat I've ever been on.

2. It is crowded, inside and out. There is very little space to store any gear, not to mention the number of rods and reels we usually take.

3. You can't take your own ice chests and food. You pay $1.00 for a bottle of water and there is no water cooler. You eat what they serve you, which may, or may not, be something you really want to eat.

4. They have a shower, but it is a small one, you straddle the toilet while you shower.

5. The fish box is relatively small.

6. The baitwell is small

7. You can only throw topwaters from the bow, and maybe one or two people at the stern.

8. 1/2 the bunks are in the galley! No privacy or quiet at times.

9. One last thing - they will RARELY cancel or postpone a trip! 9- 11 ft. seas, no problem!!

10. Wait, the very last thing.... it is a very slow boat. If you get somewhere and the fish aren't around, you can be stuck with no options of moving to another rig or floater.

A couple of good things, they have a great captain that will put you on the fish, you get a pretty darn good crew, thanks to the captain's supervision. And if you just have to catch fish, well, you get to catch fish!

I've got some great pictures of some great TAG trips on the Dolphin, if I find them I'll try to post them.

Like I said, different strokes for different folks.
