that's a distinct possibility.........
if i'm unable to put together enough anglers for a STBGFC team, i'll be looking for help during the TIFT.......... my TIFT catch also counts t'ward points in the 'season-long' STBGFC tourney
last year i had a shot at a winning yellowfin during the TIFT but didn't have a 'real' crew to help me land it........ it was just my wife's cousin and his 11-yr-old nephew
even if we'dda landed it, i had already immediately disqualified it by turning it over to her cousin so i could help fight it with the boat (he wasn't familiar w/twin inboards) and he only lasted about 30 minutes before wanting to turn it back over to me...... and i spent another 30 minutes-r-so bringing it to the surface whilst giving him instruction on how to operate the boat
the hour-long battle took it's toll on the 200# leader raking back-n-forth across it's teeth and snapped at the surface a few yards behind the boat.......... it was an easy 6 1/2' to the fork puttin' it around 200#
the TIFT winner this year was less than 50#
we had caught no marlin either because we spent all our time letting the little fellow have fun catching blackfin and dorado (which is what the big yellowfin hit, a 'hooked-up' blackfin)........ that, and i knew i didn't have the crew to even 'take on' a marlin
but we had fun
