ksong is on a distinguished road
John,
I'll give my review after testing OTI 600g and Hot's Wei side by side.
The rod will be done in two weeks as I plan to bring the rod at Newport Canyon Runner seminar on April 26.
OTI's tip is as thin as Hot's Wei's. When I checked the blank, I felt the rod action of OTI is as good as Wei.
The Hopper 500g rod's tip is too thick for my taste. The beauty of custom rod is you can choose blanks you want and you can make a rod what you like based on your experience and your preference. The new custom OTI 600g rod cost more than Hot Wei rod.

Here is picture of tips of 400g Jigging Master, 4'8" Hot Wei which John uses and OTI's 600g blank(from the bottom). As you see, the tip of GM is thicker compared to Hot and OTI's. Hot has thinner mid section to the butt. Personally I'd like to have a little thicker blank in mid section and butt section for the strength and backbone even it gains a littel weight.
There is no such a thing " the lighter, the stronger " . I tell my friends not to buy GLX or IMX and to buy GL2 and GL3 as I feel GL2 and GL3 are stronger than GLX and IMX though GLoomis claims that GLX and IMX is lighter and stronger.

5'6" OTI's 600g blank weighs 5 1/2 oz and the weight of finished rod is probably about 9 oz when I cut one ft from the butt. As Hot Wei weighs about 8 oz, 9 oz rod is not bad at all. My concern of the OTI's custom rod is not the action, but the strengh and backbone whether it can endure the pressure of big fish. It looks good, but I got to test myself to prove it.
