I think your are right re maxing out the rod with the 20 lb weight. I use FUGI guides exclusively. The reel on the rod is a Shimano Tyrnos 30 2 speed. It's a little heavy for all day jigging. After taking a hard look at what is available I'm going to be ordering an AVET HX. The USG series is very heavy duty and in my opinion bulletproof guide series. The stripper guide is the largest SIC USG (#25) that FUGI makes. It may be possible to elevate the line coming off the reel by using the RSG or HBSG series guides.
