It's probably all wrong to take a quote from yourself but to bad. I've busted a lot of rods in my day. This weekend I witnessed the rod in this thread get bent more than any other rod I have ever seen without snapping.
I witnessed a guy wearing a belt and hooked up to a harness bend this thing almost 180 degrees. When you make a bet, people will go to extremes to get the money. I saw with my own eyes an angler that probably weights around 250 pounds, sit in the harness/belt until his arse was only 6 inches from the deck numerous times. His hands were on top of the reel, pushing down on the spool to produce more drag than the reel could produce. It was amazing that the rod didn't shatter into little pieces.
The weakest link was the 130 pound wind-on leader that I can't believe didn't pop. Congrat's to the guy who made this rod. You just made someone's wallet a little thicker.
I'll have to admit that after the time limit was getting close I thought I had won the bet. When I saw the determination and low squats with major thumbing of the spool , I ran for the first aid kit. Those last three minutes were very exciting for me and everybody on board. I was almost sure someone was going to end up hurt. I will gladly go to the bank in the morning and cash a check. It was worth the show.
